This year's sold-out Timothy Francis Jones Foundation's 5th annual Timbuck2Forever tribute at House of Blues Chicago celebrated the life of the legendary Chicago DJ with an outpour of love and respect. The event brought united various DJs to perform for a crowd of passionate and dedicated lovers of the Chicago Hip-Hop culture. DJs like OZone and Jay Illa pleasantly mixed hip-hop classics as Treated Crew member Boi Jeanius announced his revamp of “Go ill radio" – Timbuck2’s syndicated radio show catered to celebrating and introducing the world to Chicago artists. Also, Boi Jeanius set the stage for up-and-coming acts like Mother Nature and Nic Junior to join veterans such as Rockie Fresh and Mikkey Halsted in a tribute performance. With surprise guest performances from De La Soul's DJ Maseo to Wu-tang members Ghostface Killah and Killah Priest the night was truly an unforgettable one.
The Timothy Francis Jones Foundation was founded after Timbuck2’s untimely death in 2015 due to kidney cancer. The foundation raises awareness to a targeted population about the importance of health maintenance. They aim to shift harmful cultural stereotypes about visiting doctors. This year was the launch of the foundation’s sneaker collaboration with Puma and in addition to the partnership, Puma donated $2500 to the Timothy Francis Jones Foundation. Tim's mother accepted the donation on stage while sharing touching and encouraging words with the audience.
DJ Timbuck2 was a highly respected DJ and iconic supporter of Chicago’s underground music movement. He was a tour DJ for major artists including Kanye West, Common and Lupe Fiasco.
