Scotland's long-awaited TRNSMT festival is set to kick off in Glasgow this weekend with a lineup that boasting a diverse range of music being offered by such a premier music festival. Headliners like Stormzy, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and George Ezra are offering modern performances by artists who are leading their respective genre into the future. This is a display of an updated approach to curating a modern lineup versus booking an everyday karaoke playlist band. But, TRNSMT is not considered a dance music festival. Their lineup delivers some of the world's most highly sought after and up-and-coming acts in rock, indie, and folk but by no means is it an electronic destination. But for festival attendees still looking to get their rave on this weekend, here are few DJs that will be heating up the dance-floor at the Utilita Power Tree stage this year.
Big Miz
Glaswegian house and techno producer Big Miz has been making some serious noise in the Scottish underground in recent years and is gaining even more attention internationally following his acclaimed Boiler Room set. Electronic fans can prepare themselves for some tasty synths, smatterings of hip-shaking disco and of course that dirty house bass that will surely make Big Miz's set the can't miss rave of the festival.
Dixon Avenue Basement Jams
Dan ‘Monox’ Lurinsky and Kenny ‘The Wasp’ Grieve are legendary warriors of the Glasgow underground scene. Their label and musical project Dixon Avenue Basement Jams was named after the legendary after-parties they would throw at their flat on Dixon Avenue. With a bit more focus on deeper techno cuts, but a few splatters of various house mixes, these seasoned DJs will have the experience and know-how for getting everyone on the dancefloor-ready to turn the fu*k up.
Rebecca Vasmant
Respected producer, DJ, and Jazz aficionado Rebecca Vasmant is a master of blending a wide world of sound into one cohesive dance passport around the world- from Afrobeat to House to Funk to Electronica. With a borderless approach to music, Vasmant's set will surely be one of the most unique and inspiring dance sets of the weekend.
