We've come to associate Maya Jane Coles with deep, dark house, a sound she mastered on her 2013 LP, Comfort. It turns out she's always had an even darker side, one she explores through her alias, Nocturnal Sunshine. Now, after becoming quite accomplished under her own name, it makes perfect sense that she would mix things up with more bass-heavy compositions, as she's announced the first ever full album of new Nocturnal Sunshine material, out May 26 through Coles' own label, I/AM/ME.
With this news, Coles has shared the eponymous debut's lead track, "Take Me There." The track begins cold and murky, then gets flat out evil, with creepy vocals dancing over a fierce low end that you know she's just been dying to unleash. Before the album drops, "Take Me There" will also be released as a 12" on record store day (April 18).
