Arizona born and bred Sidney Bird has returned with a new mesmerizing album entitled desert person. The 10 track LP is a collection of songs all about relationships. From love relationships, friendships, relationships with our family members and even ourselves, Sidney Bird dives into the intricacies of these connections in an honest and cathartic way.

The album begins with "Hey Cowboy", a spaghetti western infused indie pop banger. The song is a fun loving and seductive ode to the object of her affection and the fantasy she has of him and them together. An upbeat soaring chorus that glides over joyous folk pop rhythms entices with every note. Then there is the title track "desert person", a heartfelt folky ballad of love and devotion. The song is filled with Imagery of desert landscapes, romantic escape and sunsets, bringing the listener into Sidney's world. Her vocals are soulful, emotive and gorgeous.

With "learning to love what I have", Sidney turns the attention to herself and how materialism and consumption doesn't make her happy. She realizes she has the love she needs in life and doesn't have to turn to these destructive habits to be fulfilled. Sonically, the track is breathtaking with infectious melodies, western-infused lush acoustic guitars and steady rhythms. "learning to love what I have" is a must hear and showcases Sidney as a rising songwriter who should be on everyone's radar. Then there is "mean girl" with a verse that is fused with retro soul melodies and nostalgic folk rock soundscapes evoking artists such as Ellee King, Dusty Springfield and Duffy. Bouncy banjo riffs and Sidney's honey-soaked vocals add to the allure of the single. The song details those horrible bullies, both online and irl and how important it is to not let them get us down.

In desert person, Sidney Bird has crafted a fantastic album from start to finish. The collection of music is filled with elements of Americana, indie pop, folk, soul and rock with each track adding to the overall story of how important relationships are to our everyday existence. The album provides a musical moment for every mood and brings listeners into Sidney's expansive emotional world. Take a listen now and enjoy the escape.
