Meet debbiesthuglife, an emerging London-based electronic DJ and artist.

As a multifaceted creative, she's both a resident on NTS and the host of her own DIY YouTube series, DRIVINGWITHDEBBIE, an intimate look into music, friendship, and creative community.

Her debut EP, JELLYFISH, officially dropped on July 2nd via AWAL.

“This EP is a snapshot of my growth,” she says, “from releasing edits on SoundCloud to becoming a full-fledged artist, providing vocals on my own tracks.”

The project plunges into warped electronics, underwater textures, and glitch-infused club mutations, an introspective yet high-energy blend of ambient, deconstructed club, and experimental bass.

Across 10 tracks, JELLYFISH explores themes of fluidity and tension. Like its namesake, it’s soft and ethereal, but with a sting. Entirely self-produced, the EP was built using granular sampling, synth design, and field recordings, processed through a DIY setup that mirrors its organic-meets-digital aesthetic.

The opening track, “FLOAT,” sets the stage perfectly, introducing debbiesthuglife with airy vocals that glide effortlessly over a dubby, crunchy bassline. It's an ideal opener that establishes the tone and sonic palette of the EP.

“MEDUSA PHASE” picks up the pace, injecting frenetic breaks and D’n’B rhythms that oscillate between hypnotic and chaotic. It’s a jolt of energy that signals the genre-fluid ride ahead.

The title track, “JELLYFISH,” is steeped in Baltimore club influence, a must-add to any club banger playlist. Warped, haunting vocals snake through fast, filthy breaks, briefly flirting with a liquid bridge before slamming the gas pedal for a heavy, no-holds-barred finish.

“U FOUND CHRIST” offers a brief respite, a lo-fi break from the chaos, featuring ambient textures underscored by casual studio chatter. It acts as a much needed breath between the sonic storm.

Then we’re right back on the dance floor with “STINGER,” a cheeky, braggadocious cut that’s all swagger and sweat, made for late-night warehouse sets.

“SONAR” lives up to its name, a blend of deconstructed ambient sound design, eerie top-lines, warped vocals, and transcendent liquid D’n’B. It’s both otherworldly and grounded, a deep listen that rewards close attention.

“SCARY SQUISHY BRAINLESS” is short but immersive: glitchy and gritty, like crawling through a dark, echo-laced tunnel before breaking into a sun-drenched, dazzling openness. It bridges beautifully into the next track.

“BOUNCY,” released as a single in June, is exactly what the title suggests—playful, unpredictable, and infectious. With layered sound effects, shifting vocals, and experimental bass, it practically demands you move.

The penultimate track, “UR SO SWEET,” slows things down again. Built around voice notes from friends, it feels like a personal moment, tender and introspective, a fitting wind-down before the finale.

And finally, “U CAN’T DROWN ME” closes the EP on a stripped-back, minimalist note. It’s a gentle, grounded conclusion to a high-energy project, leaving you floating back to earth.

JELLYFISH is a hedonistic, genre-blurring trip: bold, emotional, and irresistibly chaotic. Her spirit is woven through every track, from the fierce production to her cheeky, confident vocals. Guest features and candid moments only deepen the personal, DIY feel of the project.

If this is debbiesthuglife's debut, the future’s looking very bright.
