As an artist who has immersed herself in many corners of the world, Ayoni knows how to ground herself through life’s constant changes. Bajan-born and San Diego–based, she infuses her music with vibrant influences drawn from her surroundings.

Rooted in a strong songwriting tradition, Ayoni weaves elements of folk, high-tempo pop, and powerful soul into her work.

On Isola, she reflects on the complexities of growing into adulthood and learning about love. Solely written and executively produced by Ayoni, Isola is an album about breaking through when life keeps breaking you down.

“On the Ceiling” opens with a proclamation of youthful ambition—a dreamer chasing possibility. The bright guitar and airy arrangement lift her powerful vocals, and the song embraces modest, working-class themes. It feels like embarking on a new journey across a desert horizon.

“It Is What It Is” explores what it feels like when life doesn’t go as planned and throws unexpected obstacles your way. Ayoni softens her alto and layers background vocals to emphasize the fragility that comes with loss. The percussion lends a tender rhythm to that vulnerability, and the track ends on a hopeful note of looking ahead.

On “2,” Ayoni confronts betrayal and infidelity. Her sharp, emotive vocals channel both heartbreak and the fiery instinct for revenge that often follows such pain.

“Traces of Your Love” captures the ache of removing remnants of a former lover—someone whose love brought joy but also deep wounds. Ayoni’s piercing delivery mirrors the sting of cutting ties with something once beautiful.

With “Ride the Lightning,” driven by electric guitar and a sturdy beat, Ayoni faces the challenge of moving on from a relationship that took too much of her. The track’s rustic edge and uptempo rhythm reflect the agony of realizing betrayal but also the strength to push forward.

Slowing things down, “Comeback” expresses the pull of returning to something you know isn’t good for you. Ayoni’s weary, raspy tone captures the tension of wanting what you shouldn’t and standing firm in the choice to let it go.

“Deeper” pairs intimate drums and piano with tender lyricism. The soft, reflective vocals pull you inward, forcing you to confront what’s hidden within yourself.

“Leading Me Nowhere” tells the story of reclaiming your truth when someone has tried to distort it. The delicate guitar underscores the pain of betrayal and the exhaustion of being misled for someone else’s gain.

Stripped to its essence, “Pieces of Your Love” highlights fragmented lyrics and production that mirror the incomplete nature of a one-sided relationship—giving your all to someone who never truly reciprocates.

“The Arithmetic to Lasting” uses the metaphor of numbers to convey the burden of keeping score in love. The production stays minimal, allowing the exhaustion and quiet anger in Ayoni’s vocals to take center stage.

“San Francisco” is a bittersweet ode to a place you love but have outgrown. Ayoni’s voice glides over soft acoustics as she reflects on the beauty of knowing when it’s time to move on.

“Bitter in Love” captures the loneliness of realizing something is too broken to fix. The gentle pop sensibility gives space for vulnerability and quiet acceptance.

On “Lonely,” Ayoni faces her fears and embraces growth. Letting go of what once held her back feels liberating—like shedding toxic energy to reclaim her freedom. Her soft production and soaring vocals make the track cathartic and empowering.

Bright and full of hope, “Home” celebrates creating a healthy space for yourself. It’s about clearing emotional baggage, healing, and making room for something new.

Closing the record, “Hunting Happy” depicts the final attempt to save something that’s already fading—only to realize that self-love and independence are far more rewarding. Ayoni ends the album with futuristic production and powerful vocals that feel like release.

Isola captures the heartbreaks and tribulations that define your twenties.

Ayoni’s ability to transform fragile, painful moments into rich storytelling and commanding performances is remarkable. She encapsulates the angst and loss felt by Gen Z—especially in a post-pandemic world—while reminding us of the importance of grounding ourselves and creating space to grow. This is the perfect album to sink into as fall arrives, when the world slows down and invites reflection.
