A new wave of gothic alt-rock was born in 2024, when St. Louis/Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter fera began her reign over the scene. Often being compared to the likes of Evanescence, she specializes in a combination of thick, heavy instrumentation and soft, high vocals that straddle the line between lilting and powerful.
Her latest single is no different, only stronger than ever before. "my wake and your christening," is a heavy, lyrically rich piece that contrasts the downfall of a relationship with religious themes.
Many elements make this song stand out, but the swells in and out of darker and lighter sections are an incredibly tasteful callback to early-2000's nu-metal that will absolutely captivate a fresh crowd of listeners.
Fans anticipate a whole lot more music as she begins to release music with Question Culture, where she maintains partial ownership over her work.
