Bright Shining Lights release their most ambitious work yet with cosmic LP “The Sun Is A Star”

Songbird Bright Shining Lights lands back on Earth to release their second LP in the form of 16-track odyssey "The Sun Is A Star," a one-hour-nine-minute through-space-and-time love letter that witnesses them at full cosmic tilt.

From the first notes, "The Sun Is A Star" starts as a dreamy journey. Bright Shining Lights flex shimmering guitars, cosmic synths, and ethereal textures that fall somewhere between indie rock, dream pop, and atmospheric space music. Each track is a constellation in its own right, mapping out an interwoven narrative of exploration, vulnerability, and discovery.

Highlights include “Go For Launch” an audacious, kinetic track that’s liftoff in musical form. Their wash of instruments and propulsive underbeat reflect the excitement of rise in a world without gravity, both actual and otherwise. At the other end of the spectrum, ‘‘The Door Is Ajar’’ sounds like drift even as it captures a trembling intimacy to being at sea in the unknown, its haunting melodies bring you into a place where curiosity and unease intersect. Both songs are a testament to the band’s talent at balancing vastness with profound humanity.

There is such diversity among the 16 tracks of Bright Shining Lights. Together, they make up a cohesive narrative of passing the time that makes room for listeners to consider their own respective journeys, where we’ve been and where we’re headed, and the connections we still keep along the way.

On The Sun Is A Star, Bright Shining Lights make it clear that they’re not scared to blow out their universe, both sonically and thematically. This is a beacon that no matter how far out in space we drift there will be light to guide us.
