The alt-tinged track sways between soaring and grounding as it channels inspiration taken from a comedy podcast. Speaking of the track, “We got the inspiration of this song from a very well-known podcast, Bad Friends, starring comedians Andrew Santino and Bobby Lee. They featured an actor, Dax Flame, who told the story of how he took a solo trip to Japan and got sick on the first day, causing him to spend the rest of his vacation in his hotel room alone.
“The thought of going through this is absolutely horrible, so we tried our best to capture what that would feel like and felt it could be interpreted in many different ways to relate to anyone else who might feel like they’re not at their best in an unfamiliar environment. Plus we love the comedians and comedy in general, so we really wanted to try to connect with them in some way.”
Managing to capture a relatable experience, the sticky melodies and cutting lyricism make a strong impression across each note.
