Few debut albums arrive with as much conceptual ambition as MUNNYCAT’s till death we do art.

On this 14-track release, the duo K808 and Khaledzou craft a universe that feels as much visual and philosophical as it is musical.

Drawing inspiration from art-school aesthetics and experimental pop, the album is a carefully curated collision of sonic textures, narrative ideas, and theatricality, creating a listening experience that is immersive, intellectually engaging, and unafraid of risk.

The album’s central strength is its exploration of duality. Playfulness and chaos coexist with precision and meticulous craftsmanship, giving the record both spontaneity and structure.

Tracks like “honest” layer retro piano motifs over contemporary beats, creating a bridge between past and present musical sensibilities. The track “follow the leader” stretches across cinematic landscapes, offering commentary on societal norms while maintaining a propulsive rhythm that never loses the listener.

Each song operates as a study in contrast: light and dark, immediate and reflective, humorous and serious, yet the album maintains cohesion throughout, a reflection of MUNNYCAT’s ability to merge experimental impulses with structured composition.

Instrumentally, the record demonstrates both range and inventiveness. Synth textures ebb and flow alongside organic instrumentation, while the duo’s production choices highlight the importance of space and movement within each track. Even quieter moments carry emotional weight, inviting careful listening to uncover hidden layers, subtle motifs, and intricate arrangements.

Vocally, the performances are dynamic, alternating between directness and theatricality, further emphasizing the album’s conceptual scope.

MUNNYCAT extends the experimental approach beyond sound alone. The 3D vinyl edition of till death we do art transforms the album into a multi-sensory experience. The red/blue split record creates a stereoscopic visual effect that mirrors the dualities explored within the music.

By making the physical album an artistic object, the duo challenges conventional notions of format, suggesting that music, art, and narrative are intertwined and inseparable.

This is not a casual listen. till death we do art demands attention and engagement, rewarding listeners with a journey that balances maximalist ambition with moments of intimacy, spectacle with sincerity, and humor with contemplation.

Its combination of narrative cohesion, experimental production, and performative vision positions MUNNYCAT as a standout in the modern indie experimental pop scene.

For those willing to dive in, the album is a reminder that music can be both entertainment and philosophy, pushing the boundaries of what a debut release can accomplish.
