UK emerging singer-songwriter Amelia Coburn drops her new single, "Something Wild." Marking her second single of the year, Coburn looks to follow up on her 2024 breakout debut album, Between the Moon and the Milkman. The folk singer transcends her previous work by tapping into a more refined version of her vocals.
On "Something Wild," Coburn taps into a more primal sense of self as the folk horror provides a springboard to bounce off. Wrapped in an inspiring fairy tale, a whimsical tune that may have played during bedtime. Much of Coburn's work tends to skew on the side of a makeshift film noir. These aren't the children's rhymes you may have grown up listening to.
While her voice offers comfort with its soothing pace, her horror lyrics point to something entirely different. It's within those lines that Coburn makes her living. She treads the line so beautifully, it's hard not to become enchanted by her music. Inspired by Red Riding Hood, Coburn gives viewers a glimpse into her vivid mind. Filmed by Rob Irish, Coburn is directed in a twist on a classic children's tale for the new age. Building to a chaotic end, the music video does the single justice. Coburn is currently gearing up for a tour as she gets set to headline one of her biggest shows at Royal Albert Hall in London on 24th October.
