Alternative country artist Brandon Wayne has released his new single, “It’s Me Again.”
A genre-straddling track focusing on the themes of sobriety, regret, and introspection, “It’s Me Again” sees Brandon Wayne at his most emotionally honest and raw, dealing with the consequences of past actions that are threatening to come back and haunt him.
Dark and intense, “It’s Me Again” sees Wayne break out his grittiest, Layne Staley-est vocals to tell a tale of giving up his old demons and facing them head on–half a warning to himself and half a warning to others about the depths of his former darkness.
According to Wayne: “I wanted to sit in it, to reflect on the choices that brought me here. What good have I done for others, my family, and myself? How much pain have I caused? Did the bad outweigh the good?”
Co-written and produced by Andres Alzate, Wayne provided the vocals, guitar, and synth while Alzate provided the drums and bass.
“It’s Me Again” is a big track with dark layers, featuring Wayne asking, “If I didn’t f*** this up, wreck this love, would it be the end?” and wondering if it’s “too late to make amends.” The sentiment and pain are classic country staples, but the sound is pure, traditional grunge, complete with heavy guitars and drums.
Wayne himself has indicated this is a new chapter for both himself and his music, and the fiery rage on “It’s Me Again” is definitely cleansing.
