There's a venom and an attitude to the latest release on Bad Parrot – Australian duo Friendless and BUTTERS – open with the confident hook “Everybody knows I’m a bad ass bitch” before diving headfirst into a bassline that shifts, growls, and punches with purpose.
From the jump, “B.A.B” thrives on its attitude. The low-end flex is pure UKG swagger, locking in with crisp percussion and shimmering FX that ripple around the vocal. Cleverly chopped samples — especially the stuttered “everybody” — keep the groove unpredictable, while tension builds and breaks with precision. Just when you think you’ve found the track’s pocket, the stripped-back “you bitch” moment snaps you right back into its high-energy pulse.
“I’d been hanging with BUTTERS in the studio for a while,” says Friendless. “When this hook landed, it felt like the perfect match. A few sessions later, and we had ourselves an absolute TUNE- I’m biased, but still.”
“I've been playing sets around the Sydney scene and put out a few mixes and edits on SoundCloud,” adds BUTTERS. “Artists like Interplanetary Criminal and Silva Bumpa have definitely influenced my sound and the direction I want to take things. Friendless and I cooked this one up and I’m very excited for the release- hopefully just the beginning of plenty more to come!”
The chemistry between Sydney veteran Friendless and emerging talent BUTTERS is undeniable. Friendless brings his polished production chops, fresh from international acclaim and high-profile DJ support, while BUTTERS injects a raw, club-ready edge inspired by names like Interplanetary Criminal and Silva Bumpa. The result is a track that feels both meticulously crafted and dangerously unrestrained.
“B.A.B” isn’t just a bass-heavy workout It celebrates the grit, groove, and audacity that make UKG such a lasting force, while stamping both artists’ personalities firmly on the sound. With Friendless’ busy touring schedule and BUTTERS’ growing local presence, this could easily become one of those underground anthems that refuses to stay underground for long.
In short: attitude cranked to 11, bass dialled even higher — a proper dancefloor weapon.
