Comfort Club, the brain-child of indie singer-songwriter Colin Tracey, released a new song, “If You Got to Know Her.”
Hot off the heels of his 2024 debut album Fear of Moving On, the new track marks Tracey’s fourth release of this year following three other singles. To support these releases, Comfort Club is heading on tour with Pretoria, with five dates scheduled in the South West starting July 29.
In a press release, Tracey called “If You Got to Know Her” one of his hardest rock songs yet—and it’s easy to hear why. The drums hit hard, the guitar absolutely rips, the bass pulses with intention, and the keys bring just the right touch of pop brightness to balance it all out.
The lyrics hit just as hard. They illustrate someone who repeatedly enters a toxic relationship with rose-colored glasses. This person is so enamored with their partner, describing her as an intellectual and all-American “girl next door,” that they disregard her mistreatment of them.
“If You Get to Know Her” succeeds at expanding Comfort Club’s sonic horizons, helping ensure his artistic longevity. A Juno-inspired music video for the song, which is set to star Tracey as a track and field star, is set to release this upcoming week.
