The last few of years have seen pop take a drastic turn. With the growing presence of social media and TikTok, labels have shifted to artist crafting quirky short singles that always seem to lose its luster fast. Tactics like this breed a form of unauthencity that stretches over the entire landscape of music. From the cookie cutter and bland radio hits, Jadelyn emerges.

Based out of the pop capital of the music world, L.A., Jadelyn's music is a rare form of an artist taking the time to cultivate their sound. Jadelyn's new EP, Daydream Diaries, showcases her verbal ability and range within the pop-dance space. Weaving girl pop with hints of new age dance makes for a project free of doubt and full of grand vision.

Daydream Diaries' track list hits on all the right notes. From self reflection in past loves in "Runaway" to the reclamations of self in "How Do You Like Me Now?" In such a short time, Jadelyn managed to capture an essence long since forgotten in pop music.

"Runaway" is a standout track. Drawing similarities to early Taylor Swift, right before her pop transition, the track is crafted in such a fairytale way. Utilizing pink bubblegum lyrics and a crashing chorus, the L.A. artist drifts in between a daydream and nightmare.

"I know somewhere we can go / Where the stars are brighter than the L.A. sun," Jadelyn sings, playing on those LA themes. Jadelyn goes through a range of emotions as perspectives shift in the doomed relationship. Over the course of the track, the artist emerges determined to not repeat past mistakes. The sun soaked light track carries an even lighter tempo until the very last chord.

The youthful anguish doesn't stop there as "Throw It Back" etches in step with "Runaway." Missed connections, fated encounters and hopeful wishing play heavily in the formation of the track. While Jadelyn holds out hope for a future connection, "Throw It Back" seems to offer no happy ending.

Daydream Diaries does a great job highlighting many branches of the pop space. The back half of the EP holds "HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?" a killer pop rock track that screams self empowerment, a folk centric track "Halfway out the Door," and the simmering country love song, "Stardust." All three tracks harbor traits of Jadelyn's ability to bend the very notes in a song. Daydream Diaries is a mixture of tracks from Jadelyn in her element. She's triple threat with other branches in modeling and acting, but music seems to be where she's most at home in.

Daydream Diaries is out now on all music platforms.
