Ambient musician Baths has returned with his first album in eight years, Gut.
Written “from the stomach,” Baths AKA Will Wiesenfeld has referred to his latest album as being “the most direct” album he’s ever written, tackling the theme of sex without reserve.
Shot throughout with both intense lust and a longing sense of hopelessness, Gut features the tracks “Sea of Men” and “Eden,” which Baths released earlier this year as a teaser for the rest of the album.
Gut’s lead single, “Governed,” is a synth-fest full of honest anger, in which Baths sings I will die waiting / I will die governed and I will be quiet / I will be othered – a sentiment many queer people are keenly aware of, particularly at this moment in time.
In addition to the new album, Baths has also announced an upcoming tour which kicks off on March 6 in San Diego and will see Baths journey across the United States and Canada before heading to the United Kingdom and then the rest of Europe.
