Cornwall based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Rosalie James has just shared her first single and music video from her upcoming album Full of Chemicals. The newcomer has teamed up with acclaimed producer Daniel Knowles (Sharon Van Etten) for the blissful genre-defying musical embrace.

"Girl I Was" is a storied narrative all about the songwriter's romantic relationship from first meeting the man until the end. The descriptive lyrics transport the listener to a nostalgic time filled with vivid imagery of not only their connection but also deeply personal characteristics of her old object of desire. The song further touches upon the toxicity of the relationship and how she realized ultimately she needed to be comfortable in her own power. She sings, "You studied physics / You moved to Oakland / You stayed in contact / We made great music that sounded tragic / You said you loved me / Now you hate me / When I first met you / I didn't really like you." Musically, "Girl I Was" combines elements of indie rock, folk and bedroom pop for a must listen to debut. The song also entices with its cinematic nature filled with beautiful keys, lush guitars and driving drums. Rosalie James has created a musical masterpiece sure to gain a new fan base around the globe.

Rosalie James has an uncanny ability to create relatable music. Using her own personal experiences as influences for her music and being open with her struggles including neurodiversity, addiction and mental health issues, the songwriter makes listeners feel not alone in their own struggles. Take a listen to "Girl I Was" now and get excited for what's next from Rosalie James.
