Australian sister duo Charm of Finches have returned with "Clean Cut", a remarkable musical oasis that is the second single off of their highly anticipated upcoming album. The full length Marlinchen in the Snow is set for release April 19th via SPUNK! Records.
With "Clean Cut", the pair pen a song of self advice and an encouragement to move on from a bad love affair. The song was written while the band was on tour in Oslo, Norway on a beautiful grand piano. Lyrics including, "Under the simple sky / Above my tangled mind / I'll finally wake up / Making my mind up / Making a clean cut," show that she has found the time and space and is now ready to break up a relationship that has left her in despair. Musically, "Clean Cut" features the sister's harmonic magic over chamber pop soundscapes. Evocative strings and driving acoustics add to the tracks' intoxication. The song is shared alongside an intriguing music video. The pair and their friends star in the cinematic feature that shows a man stumbling upon a haunted doll museum. The video parallels the song's meaning of breaking away from a dark past life.
Charm of Finches is composed of songwriters, singers and musicians Mabel and Ivy Windred-Wornes. The duo have wowed audiences around the globe with their tight harmonies and folk meets indie pop musical envelopments. Winners of the Australian Folk Music Awards Best Folk Album and Music Victoria Best Contemporary Folk Act (2021), their music has been nominated twice for the prestigious awards. Their new album was recorded in rural Nova Scotia with Canadian producer Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant, Oh Pep!). Check out "Clean Cut" now and get excited for what is next from Charm of Finches.
