After rewriting her past pain on her last release "Cherrier" last month, Montreal-based multi-faceted artist Hua Li 化力 returns with a new single titled "Part Time Muses". The dreamy pop-rap infusion is an expressive piece that sees Hua Li 化力 reflecting on a love triangle gone awry. Over Gloze's atmospheric and surreal synths and punchy trap drums, she delivers a blend of airy melodic runs and unapologetic raps that explore desire and longing. Always one to go against the grain, Hua Li 化力 goes for a rap hook and sings on the verses which serves as a contrast and builds up to an emotional outpour as the song moves along.
For the visuals, she recruits the talents of director Yang Shi who uses a mix of off-centre storyboarding and performance shots to drive home the emotions displayed in the song. We see Hua Li 化力 as a 30-something prom queen trying to relive a memory from the past.
