Amsterdam based artist Elif Dame uses her music to talk about her own experiences and battles with depression and anxiety. Delving into some of her most personal and vulnerable moments in her life, the musician also opens up about insecure attachment and relationship issues, trauma, family drama and addiction. Her latest single “Killing It” specifically speaks about going on medication and slowly starting to feel the benefits of it, whilst also feeling paranoid that it may trigger another manic episode.
“Killing It” is the second single to be released from her upcoming album, Securely Detached, with Dame explaining, “It’s about reframing my co-dependent relationships and about my time on the waitlist to get mental health care. It’s about the important process of learning what it means to put yourself first.”
Featuring beats from fellow Amsterdam artist GANZ, “Killing It” is doused in silky piano melodies and sultry vocals, delivering an overall vibey, hypnotic atmosphere. With her honest lyrics, relatable topics and intoxicating sound, we can’t wait for the upcoming album.
