Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based indie, dream pop artist Jenny Kern speaks about the important, yet painful decision of letting go in her new single “Move On.” The heart-wrenchingly beautiful song captures the pure emotion from Kern as she reflects on her own experiences, providing an empowering anthem for those who need a nudge in the right direction. Oftentimes it's easy to become blinded by other people, but Kern wants to remind people to stand up for themselves and know that better and brighter things lie ahead.
Kern shares, “This song is about moving on after the end of a relationship. It’s an anthem, a sort of charging forward and getting to understand what you want. At first you don’t know how to navigate the emotions that are hitting you in the moment so the lyrics toy with that vulnerability. But ultimately it’s an empowering way to realize you can heal yourself.”
Reminiscent of LEON, Holly Humberstone and Sasha Alex Sloan, “Move On” features ethereal, cascading synths, emotive melodies and powerful percussion. Her voice soars with clarity and determination, as she follows through with the decision she has made, chanting, “I just need to move on, I just need to move on.” This track is a potent reminder to start putting ourselves first.
