LA-based writer and producer TOMI has released her powerful new single, “Open Road”, which demonstrates her ferocious guitar and resounding vocals – a sound she’s often characterized by. With expressive vocal performances, embracing piano chords and steady drums, the “Open Road” offers a moving experience. With a heartfelt meaning about coming out and embracing self-identity TOMI writes, “I came out at the age of twelve when I fell in love with my best friend. My mom found love notes and all hell broke loose. Coming out in a conservative suburban neighborhood was an uphill battle.”
Released on National Coming Out Day Via her own record label In Between Records, the single expresses her experience of resilience and fighting for change. TOMI will be donating a percentage of profits from Open Road to support the LGBTQ+ youth. She writes “After I came out I found solace in music and leaned on it for honesty and security. Through the years of fighting to protect the LGBTQ+ community I learned a lot about resilience. Open Road is about that process – resilience, fighting for change and discovering strength in one’s differences.”
The latest from TOMI, "Open the Road" is a poignant, emotive new offering from the LA-based artist.
TOMI will be performing live at Songbirds Festival, L.A – October 13th.
