It seems it's hustle season, as NY emcee Jamar Carr and his partner in rhyme D. Thompson's return with a new single "Get It", which is a solid hustle anthem for everyone trying to make it in this unforgiving world. Carr is definitely in the zone with the lyrics, but he also switches his style from the classic NY boom-bap to melody-driven raps. The production is slick and ripe, with lush guitar plucks, somber strings, and bouncy drums to match while the emcees detail what they go through in order to put food on their family's plate. Carr starts it off with a reflective tone as he muses on the many jobs he had to circle through from working 9 to 5's to getting it off the streets, among other things. D.Thompson adds his own experiences as well and delivers a characteristic auto-tuned performance ripe with emotion.
