Australian native Olive Amun is looking to be the next alt hip-hop star. Pulling influence from Mac Miller, Dominic Fike, and Odd Future, Amun is quickly making a name for himself. Amun’s music is personal and therapeutic, filled with raw emotion, and his newest single, “Deadweight” is no exception.
“Deadweight” is a rough cut, filled with grit and emotion. Amun sings about a complicated relationship with a fling, where he goes back and forth on his feelings. Sonically, the track is carried by a distorted guitar that loops throughout. The strings add to the overall edgy tone of the track. Altogether “deadweight” is theatric and gritty in its presentation, filled with relatable lyrics about a complicated lover.
Riding off of his successful debut EP “Don’t Leave Yet”, Amun looks to carry the momentum with “Deadweight”. It will be exciting to see how the track performs and watch Amun grow.
