Zimbabwean Canadian producer, DJ, and musician MELO-T team up with Canadian/Nigerian Afro-bop singer Idris Lawal and vocalist NEFE for this awesome single titled "DO RE MI." The record is a potpourri of sounds and styles ranging from the reigning South African Amapiano vibes, Afro-pop, and a bit of electronic aesthetics to boot. The record is as dreamy as they come and shines with its ethereal layered keys and textures which are bolstered by soft groovy drums that flow seamlessly over one another.
Lawal takes the reins on the track with his faux falsetto runs and imaginative lyrics that center on the basics of love and music, hence a play on the do-re-mi notes on the major musical scale. He rides the beat with ease with a carefree, nonchalant flow while NEFE provides airy and enchanting background vocals that add an angelic touch to the entire track as a whole. "DO RE MI" is Melo-T's first single from his forthcoming project, For The Culture 2 EP, which is the second installment in the music series. The project will see Melo-T paying homage to the fast-rising amapiano sound that is bursting out of South Africa.
MELO-T is an Ottawa-based producer and DJ who fuses a plethora of sounds from the motherland into his eclectic musical arsenal. He caught the musical bug as a kid in Zimbabwe, being drawn to the Marimba percussions, Mbira instruments, and Ngoma drums as well as the Afropop songs on the radio.
