Masego graced the Capitol Cuts series with a glowing live performance, presented by Genesis GV80. The trap house jazz artist performed a selection of four tracks that were recorded in Capitol Studios and captured straight to vinyl.
Masego was joined by drummer Jon Curry, guitarist Maxwell Hunter, bassist Ced Mitchell, and Dan Foster on the Keyboard; however, he occasionally took a break from leading with vocals to add an extra flair with saxophone breaks.
With the exception of “Just a Little” from his 2018 album Lady Lady, he performed tracks that were released this year. Each installment of the series was preceded by a brief message where he reflects on how legendary jazz musicians Nat King Cole and Cab Calloway influenced him.
The “Tadow” singer also took to Instagram to mention the momentous accomplishment his performance was considering his hero, Nat King Cole, also once roamed the halls of Capitol Records. Masego’s jazz influence surely rang true in this set. Exuding an undeniable stage presence, Masego put on an electrifying show.
