Today's delivery is brought to you by tUnE-YarDs. Now, if you've only heard the track "Gangsta" then you may find it hard to believe that this group (brainchild of Merrill Garbus) could ever be chosen for this feature. But the eclectic nature of "Gangsta" should be evidence enough that this group(act) doesn't just use your normal collection of sounds or follow any type of formula. They have a truly unique ability of combining all types of music without sound like a cacophony of sounds. You get a sense, when you listen to them, that if you tried to create the same type of randomness you would not come up with something as pleasing to the ear. So, the track I'm bringing to today is called "Wolly Wolly Gong" which comes from their latest album entitled w h o k i l l. The track is a somber and melancholy cautionary lullaby which is done with perfection with Merrill's slightly haunting vocals. The workings of this track are very simple compared to the rest of the album yet there's enough going on to keep your attention for the full six or so minutes as you ponder ways one is able to maintain their innocence before real life events set in. Check out the track and chill….
