It's no secret that Ireland is home to an incredible, and ever growing, electronic music scene with DJs like Bicep, Hammer and Jordan all calling the place home. With festivals and venues like Belfast's AVA in the north and Dublin's infamous District 8, Northern Ireland and the Republic are both fast becoming dance destinations. From Sligo, a small coastal seaport in the Border Region with a population of only 20,000, come the rising Berlin-based duo Brame & Hamo.
Releasing house music via their Splendor & Squalour imprint over the last few years, the pair launched their second label Brame & Hamo in 2017 to great success with one of their tracks "Space Dub" making its way in Maceo Plex's Fabriclive mix – who they also supported at the Mosaic Printworks show this month. With support incoming from names like Ame, Denis Sulta, Gerd Janson, Mall Grab and Paul Woolford – it's no surprise that Brame & Hamo are fast becoming one of the most in demand acts in 2018.
The latest delivery via the Brame & Hamo imprint is the duo's highly anticipated Celebrity Impersonator EP. The A1, "Midnight Express", is a rolling melodic track heavily pointing in the direction of Italo and acting as a showcase for their ability to merge techno and trance sounds into something completely unique and signatory. Title track "Celebrity Impersonator" explores darker sounds and their love for breakbeat – resulting in a spacey and euphoric four four. The B2 "Request Rhythm", for which EARMILK grabbed the exclusive premiere, is melodic and a stomper all at once – a progressive, all consuming track laced with trance elements and as hypnotizing as it is hectic.
Brame & Hamo's Celebrity Impersonator EP is out now via their own imprint Brame & Hamo.
