Norwegian producer and songwriter Koen Van De Wardt, who performs under the name Klangstof, has already proven himself to be one of the most exciting new acts of 2016. His layered but delicate indie-electronic compositions are fairly reminiscent of a OK Computer-era Radiohead (which has admittedly been a huge source of inspiration), but building upon that sonic initial blueprint in order to create an eclectic sound that is somewhat familiar but is capable of transporting listeners to unexpected territories. A primary example of this is his debut single "Hostage", which starts off subtly but slowly transitions into a flurry of melody and emotion.
He has recently released a pensive visual for the single directed by Menno Fokma, which follows the struggles of an isolated middle-aged war veteran named Adrien as he deals with the mental anguish of living with PTSD. Check out the video above and make sure to visit Klangstof's Soundcloud to hear their other great singles, "Island" and "Amansworld".
