Today, Amy Winehouse would have turned 28. Artists who leave us unexpectedly always live on through their music. Back in March of this year, the beehive-donning songstress had been in London at Abbey Road Studios recording "Body and Soul" with the legendary Tony Bennett. The studio session will be footage in an upcoming documentary about Bennett and the song will be part of Bennett's album Duets II which features him singing with other acclaimed vocalists: Lady Gaga, Norah Jones, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin.
In light of Winehouse's passing, the track will finally be released today, with proceeds benefiting the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which seeks to help young people struggling with addiction and provides underprivileged kids with scholarships to performing arts schools.
Here in this behind the scenes footage of the recording session, Winehouse talks about her natural attachment to this particular song and her experience working with "Tone". Cop the song on iTunes and contribute to her legacy.
