Today's virtual landscape has no dearth of music streaming apps, sites, and everything in between, but Beatport throws its glove into the ring with today's announcement of their own streaming service. Though at first glance not a direct competitor to Soundcloud, Spotify, or Apple's new Music, the greatest part about the service stems from Beatport's wealth of past and present tracks, which may not always make it onto other sites. Now, (almost) the entire canon of electronic music has been made accessible for stream and purchase alike. As Beatport's new service matures, it will be interesting to see the its impact on artist revenue and whether it becomes an addition to or replacement for alternative streaming services.
