If there's one thing today can remind us of, it's that we can never predict what to expect from Sander van Doorn. One of the reasons the Dutch producer is among superstars is his ability to put the most into his music: not churning out track after track as a reminder of his stardom, but taking his time to put forth quality music in a variety of forms. While we've seen some melodic work from his collaboration with R3hab on "Phoenix" and heavy chords on his work with Firebeatz and Julian Jordan's "Rage," this time we see his solo work reemerge just as the warmer weather months are truly kicking off. Though it was first debuted as his Miami pool party, I was first exposed to "Ori Tali Ma" at its inclusion in last month's Kryder BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, where it became clear that it was something that would stop me in my tracks with every play. Today, the track is out via Van Doorn's own label, DOORN, and the full extended mix is more impressive than imagined. While we've been seeing some reemergence of tribal house elements in certain big room music, Van Doorn has taken the soul and appeal of those appearances and made them the focal point of the track. With rolling percussion that he's made his trademark, "Ori Tali Ma" features elements that we sometimes see in moombahton brought over to a technically big room track: vocal chants, whistles and various types of drums.
