It's that moment all DMV followers have been waiting for: another leak of producer Royal's debut EP Cycles. If you read my posts regularly, you're probably throwing as big of an internal party as I am; this is exactly what we wished for.
Royal has always been one to make beats that don't lead in for a good portion of the introduction, but never has his build sounded so joyous. His single "Passenger" goes against everything I had believed about his music before, not so much in sound but in personality. Don't take this as something bad, a pivot in imagination is always a worthy realization. When I hear his beats, I realize there's still quality production out there, and those who do it well still incorporate a modern atmosphere. If the rest of Cycles is just as smooth as "Passenger" then we may have found another artist to add to that thin population of geniuses.
This new drop is of course a trap influenced jam, but the milky lyrics and oddly up hearted production could be a common trend to see from Imad. Maybe it only lasts on this project, maybe it becomes a signature. Whatever it ends up being, I can ensure we as listeners will enjoy just as much as we did his remix of "Crave You" back in 2014.
