Dinnerdate ditches acoustic with experimental, minimal "Memoire"

Dinnerdate exploded onto the blogosphere last year with his remix of José González's "Crosses," which has amassed over a million listens on SoundCloud.  The Munich-based producer made a name for himself turning acoustic songs, like Angus and Julia Stone's "All Of Me," into low-key, feel good electronic jams.  Dinnerdate opted for deep house's bass instead of Kygo and tropical house's playful synth phrases in his catchy remixes.  On his new single "Memoire", though, Dinnerdate leaves acoustic sound behind and adopts a minimal electronic style resembling that of Tourist.

The track builds from the sound of falling rain.  Simple piano notes come in before drum, bass and cymbals are added to the equation.  A sample from Deborah Cox's 1998 hit "September" moans over the track, "I remember that day in September," before bass and synthesized atmosphere take control.  When the sonic rush of the first chorus is over, the pace decelerates before building into a more sonically lush electronic segment.  The track is packed with a variety of instruments, sampled voice and noise, but never becomes too intense or overbearing.  Rather, the original track marks a new path of experimentation for Dinnerdate that follows on the mellow sound he has been building, until now, with remixes of acoustic songs.  We look forward to hearing more.
