BANKS' latest single "Drowning" is one of those entrancing records executed well–so well, in fact, that you almost wish people wouldn't remix it for fear of them failing to add any new dimensions. Grammy award-winning producer Al Shux provides the dark, sultry production on "Drowning" that we've come to recognize as the Los Angeles singer's signature sound, adding just enough kick and flare to back the lover-scorned storyline. That being said, no remixes necessary. Just one exception.
Lido clearly changed my mind. Quickly solidifying his spot as one of our favorite rising producers, the Oslo producer been known for his hard-hitting, layered sonic reworks along with production for Mad Decent songstress LIZ. He completely revamps "Drowning," captivating listeners with a sick introductory riff of plucked strings, booming percussion and his signature experimental electronic elements. It's truly progressive, keeping us on our toes for five and a half minutes straight. He's more than a producer well-versed in EDM, slowing his rework down in the final minutes for a melodic piano breakdown before reintroducing those addictive strings.
Overall, it's an upbeat, exciting new storm of sounds surrounding BANKS – and the result is truly infectious. Hats off to you, Lido.
