Back in December of last year, EARMILK had the pleasure of premiering Teen Daze's remix of Yellerkin's "Solar Laws", and now we have the pleasure of viewing the official video for the original track.
Yellerkin, a Brooklyn-based up-and-coming duo, innovatively have created a visual, Where The Wild Things Are-inspired music video for the single, which we can't help but fall in love with. Directed by Nicolas Pesce, "Solar Laws" is now positioned in front what seems to be a classic children monster tale, where dreamy indie music seems to nestle in just fine.
In addition, one half of Yellerkin, Adrian, wrote an accompanying children's storybook counterpart, which was released on Yellerkin's Tumblr. The story describes what we end up seeing in the video: a boy in search of his monster, or rather, his childhood. The climax depicts the boy overcoming this desire to return to innocence by killing the monster, resulting in the stripping away of his imaginative shield.
Both the story and video come as a preview to Yellerkin's debut self-titled EP, which is set to be self-released on February 4th. On that very night, the Brooklyn duo will be opening for Young & Sick at Rough Trade NYC.
