FM EXPERIMENT are back with “FLY,” a new single that leans into their signature mix of jazz improvisation and electronic production but with a sharper conceptual edge. Taken from their upcoming album, ICARUS, the track explores ambition in a way that feels thoughtful without being heavy-handed.
“FLY” opens with a steady, hypnotic groove that quickly locks in. The drumming stays tight and propulsive, anchoring a mix of warm, layered synths and subtle electronic details. Textured guitar lines drift between jazz phrasing and ambient tones, giving the track a slightly dreamy feel without losing momentum.
What works best here is the balance. It feels polished but not overproduced. You can still hear the improvisational roots, which keep the track from sounding too rigid. That push and pull ties nicely into the song’s theme of knowing when to keep going and when to pull back.
