If you've ever yearned for a band that has the feeling of Majesty Crush, Fontaines D.C., and The Cure if they were put together in a blender, Komodos is here and ready to fulfill your craving.
Their latest single "17" has an atmospheric embrace with a grittier touch. Maybe that's just what post-punk sounds like, but Komodos goes a step further, using '80s and early '00s nostalgia to craft something fresh sounding from its slow-build beginning to rambunctious end.
The Brooklyn-based four piece has many strengths, but on "17" you might fall in love with Taran Dugal's emotional vocal tone, thoughtful lyrics, and the plethora of textures they use to wrap the track in that half-excited half-achey feel that isn't so easy to pin down.
Stream "17", available now on all major streaming services.
