Los Angeles singer-songwriter Paula Fong has just shared her latest irresistible Americana gem. Entitled "River Run", the track is the first taste from her upcoming 10 track musical collection, released as a two-part series throughout this year.
With "River Run", Paula Fong pens a song taking inspiration from the beautiful Mackenzie river in Oregon. While on tour with artist Abby Posner, the artist took a break and wrote alongside this transformative scenery. The result was a song that is an exhale in the middle of a storm. The artist was able to let go of some personal heaviness she had been carrying. As the artist returned to the song after some time passed, political chaos ensued and the river once again became an effective metaphor, not just for time passing, but for the possibility of healing through movement and patience. She sings, "There is a tightness in my chest / Steals away my breath / River run run run, till this season is done / Lift my heaviness and lead me down the channelshowing this narrative.
Musically, "River Run" is a roots-driven folk, bluegrass, country and Americana single featuring beautiful layered vocals singing heartfelt melodies over slide guitar and rhythmic banjo. The arrangement is lush and rich, allowing Fong’s voice and storytelling to take center stage.
"River Run" stands as a poignant and transportive offering, one that showcases Paula Fong’s ability to turn introspection into something expansive, inviting listeners to find their own sense of release within its gentle current.
