Dublin-based “Goth-disco” five-piece Cable Boy unveils shoegaze-tinged single "Drought" from their upcoming debut album Forever. Building upon rich guitars, swelling synths, snappy beats and biting vocals, the track is energetic yet lo-fi as it taps into the frustrations and sadness of not being able to fix a shatterd love.
With an atmospheric feel that plays off crisp instrumentals, the track captures the pain of love lost. Frontman Semilore Olusa says, “Drought chronicles the end of a relationship. The dying embers of a passionate flame that once engulfed everything has since fizzled to nothing. Both sides questions how they got here and if there still any love left.
Formed by school friends Semilore Olusa and Liam Murray, Cable Boy has evolved steadily with the addition of Corneille Tshibasu, Jason Aikhionbare, and Fionn McLoughlin, as they've pushed towards an inventive brand of heavier, shoegaze-leaning hybrid sound that sets them apart. Cementing a reputation as one of Ireland's most exciting newcomers, the quintet who have carved out a space for their visceral live performances are set to showcase their creativity and musical maturity in equal parts on their upcoming album.
