Seafret and James Morrison have released their new collaboration single, “Driftwood.”
The duo, made up of singer Jack Sedman and guitarist Harry Draper, wrote the track together with the acclaimed singer-songwriter James Morrison, to create what has been described as an “end of the world” song.
It’s a song rooted in the current era, with ebbing guitars, bass, and a steady rhythmic drum track underpinning Jack Sedman and James Morrison’s vocals as they deliver a lament on the long-term effects of constant exposure to suffering, global poverty, and unchecked greed.
But even as “Driftwood” meets this issue, the song refuses to give up hope.
At first separately and then together, both James Morrison and Jack Sedman sing “It’s the end of the world/and there’s nothing I can do/but keep holdin’ on to you.”
“Driftwood” urges everyone to hold onto hope by holding onto the people you love, and even if it’s the obvious thing to do, it’s still helpful and powerful to be told.
