Chicago-born, Denver-based producer Ian Snow has made his debut on NGHTMRE and SLANDER's Gud Vibrations with "Flow State," a heady deep dubstep banger that showcases his signature cinematic fractal sound design. The release follows his 2025 single "Ice Waves," which SLANDER championed on their Heaven Sent imprint.
"Flow State" delivers a roaring ride of ferocious climbs, thunderous drops, and spacey, intermittent valleys through squalls of squelchy freeform grooves. The track also serves as the pure sonic expression of Ian Snow's current creative mindset.
"Despite being named some time ago, it's nice seeing the term 'flow state' suddenly making the rounds online," shares Ian Snow. "We hear about artist's block constantly, but rarely about the opposite side of that coin, which is how I'd describe flow state, and thankfully how I've been feeling lately."
The producer sees flow state as total immersion, a place where time dissolves, decisions become clear, and ideas connect faster than one can second-guess them. "But any seasoned producer knows you don't wait around for that lightning to strike," he continues. "If there's a message from this track, it's that you aim to show up every day. Consistency builds quality. The waves come and go, but discipline is what keeps the output steady."
Ian Snow relocated from his hometown of Chicago to Denver in October, marking a major step in his professional journey. Beyond collaborating with many artists in the area, he has transformed his basement into a creative playground. Without the constraints of crowded apartment living, he regularly jams out on guitar, drum kit, and keys, all of which he's formally trained in. He also writes all of his own lyrics, resulting in a musicality that screams across his new productions.
Ian Snow has been building momentum through his ILLfest debut and recent tour support for Buku. The Gud Vibrations debut represents another significant milestone as he continues developing his distinct approach to bass music, with "Flow State" now available now via Gud Vibrations.
