Belfast quartet Wynona Bleach shares “Religion,” taken from upcoming sophomore album Animal Style. Built on a relentlessly energetic soundscape of punchy drums, fuzzy guitars, and biting vocals the track captures the band’s signature raw and powerful alt-rock sensibility, framed by tinges of pop-rock and punk.
A visceral offering that taps into bare honesty about finding someone attractive, the track encapsulates meeting someone who makes you feel like you can do anything for them.
Speaking about the track, the band say, “The track is about seeing someone you find so attractive, the dirty thoughts make you wanna find god. It’s less a love song, and more a “lust” song. It's about when you meet someone that makes you feel like you’d do anything, even if it was to lie to your true self. It also calls out fake people, fake society, organised religion and how everything made out to be ‘cool’ is usually just a con.”
Intensely powerful and laden with authenticity, “Religion” offers us a glimpse of their upcoming album, set to be a return to their guitar-focused soundscapes. Having quickly established themselves as a one of the most compelling bands to emerge from Northern Ireland in recent years, Wynona Bleach is one the cusp of their most incisive work to date.
