If you're hungry for a groove, Chinese American Bear invites you to the table saying "chi fan le" (it's time to eat) on their latest single "Mama" (妈妈).
The Seattle-based duo sings in both Mandarin Chinese and English, stitching together light vocals and timelessly funky instrumentals to share a song that calls back to Anne Tong's childhood, where the importance of sharing a meal was a part of her cultural upbringing.
The single is full of strings, synths, and carefree energy to pull you straight into their colorful world—which they also share with us in a music video.
"Mama" is just a taste of their upcoming album Dim Sum & Then Some, set for release on May 8th via Moshi Moshi Records.
