Arizona band The Maine continues building their legacy, with their tenth studio album Joy Next Door, arriving April 10th. Their latest single, "Quiet Part Loud," is out now! Following the recent release "Die To Fall," the track showcases exactly what the band's title promises, turning emotions into catharsis.
"Some songs take months or years to write, and some take hours. This one came together quickly out of necessity, because time is sometimes not on your side," frontman John O'Callaghan explains. "With that notion in mind…say what you want while you still can."
The song commands attention immediately with rock-solid production and confident vocals that create a surprisingly comforting atmosphere despite the sonic intensity. "Talk to me just like there's no one around," O'Callaghan pleads over martial drums and enchanting vocal effects. Guitars dominate the mix while addictive drums and beautiful string arrangements provide the foundation for what's shaping up as another landmark moment for the alternative scene.
Written and recorded in sequential order to emphasize storytelling, Joy Next Door continues The Maine's tradition of assigning colors to each era. Joy Next Door is the green era. "The green grass on the album art feels like it matches perfectly with the organic instrumentation and imperfections left intact on the album," drummer Pat Kirch states.
This arrives during The Maine's biggest year yet. Festival appearances at Warped Tour, Boston Calling, and When We Were Young Fest preceded their first headline tour in nearly two years, which became their largest on-sale in the band's career. Their self-curated 8123 Fest also achieved record success in its fourth biannual iteration this past year. Their tour is kicking off on March 24th in Las Vegas and spans 26 dates across North America. The tour became their largest on-sale in the band's career, with several dates already sold out, including Phoenix, San Diego, and Washington DC.
The numbers are impressive: five of their nine previous studio albums have charted on the Billboard 200, with over one billion global streams accumulated. Their 2022 single "Loved You A Little" reached Top 5 at Alternative radio, proving The Maine can deliver both cult devotion and mainstream crossover.
That devoted fanbase, dubbed the "8123 Family" by the band and boasting over one million social media followers, includes fans who've traveled thousands of miles and attended hundreds of shows. "Quiet Part Loud" gives them another anthem to scream back, thickening The Maine as one of alternative rock's most remarkable bands.
