Pennsylvania rockers Tigers Jaw have released their latest single, “Primary Colors.”
Taken from their upcoming LP Lost on You, “Primary Colors” sees singers Ben Walsh and Brianna Collins trade off vocals and harmonies to create a lush environment for the rest of the song to thrive in. What could have otherwise been a straightforward rock song is accentuated by some interesting bass work during the second verse, and some genuinely emotive lyrics, such as “will I rely upon myself/to find a way to go from here?/I want to love entirely/but I was led astray.”
According to singer Ben Walsh: “[the track] is about being so wrapped up in the aftermath of something that it overwhelms your senses entirely. When you’re stuck somewhere between reflecting on the ‘what ifs’ and finding the resolve to move forward. We recreated that mental space in the music video as a performance space that had doorways to memories, journeying through a relationship from the very first sparks to the slow unraveling.”
That “slow unraveling” can be experienced as the track ends, and the song calms down somewhat to a gentle guitar melody and minimal drums, with Brianna Collins softly singing the rest of the track out the door.
Tigers Jaw have also announced a headline spring tour following the release of the LP across the US, which includes a sold-out show at LA’s Regent Theatre, plus a gig at Rough Trade New York.
