New York-based electro-pop artist Kyle Waves has released his new single, “Picture In My Phone.”
A fast-paced, house-beat-driven heartbreak anthem, “Picture In My Phone” finds Kyle Waves confronting a past lover’s lingering hold on him long after the relationship ends.
Reduced to just a “picture in my phone,” he admits, “I need to have some self-control / can’t be scared of being on my own,” even as he considers giving his ex another chance — a pull that feels more like desperation than hope.
Soft piano lines accentuate Kyle Waves’ almost monotone delivery, creating a sense of quiet exhaustion, as if he’s too drained to reach for the higher or lower edges of his voice while processing these emotions.
The new track is part of Kyle Waves’ new sonic identity, carried on from last year’s EP Signals, moving into a moodier, sexier, and generally more mature sound even as he continues to be inspired by other acts such as NewJeans, Lexie Liu, and Troye Sivan.
