Powerhouse theatric-rock band Daniel Martin and the Infamous are set to release a B-Side to their latest album Gone Days of Silence, with their first ever recorded cover of Metallica’s 1986 track “Welcome Home/Sanitarium.”
Set to be distinct to the band’s dark sonic signature yet a loving tribute to Metallica, the track dives into battling the voices within and isolation fitting it into the theme of war explored in Gone Days of Silence. Speaking of the track, the band says, “We hope this cover comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comfortable. We hope this encourages people to listen to the rest of the album, as well as our discography. And who knows, maybe even Metallica will see it!”
An ode to the 40th anniversary of Metallica’s Master of Puppets, the original album from which the track comes from, the cover is not just a tribute but another step into the upcoming deluxe version of Gone Days of Silence, a 10-track collection weaving through courage, reflection, and rebellion framed by sharp lyrics and aggressive instrumentals.
From the glitched out anthemic notes of “Say My Name,” and “AntiStar,” to the foreboding melodic tinges of “Villain of Your Story,” the haunting echoes of “The Spider,” and the expansive orchestral sensibilities of closing track “This Is The Life,” the album spans a range of soundscapes and moods as it hones in on finding inspiration in the everyday.
With the forthcoming deluxe version set to further draw us into their alluring sonic world, Daniel Martin and the Infamous continue to hit the spot with their venomous yet tender musicality.
