Alt-pop artist Evann McIntosh has released their new single, “Mull It Over”.
The single release also comes alongside the announcement of Evann McIntosh’s upcoming album Fantasy Fuel, which will be released on March 6.
Half looping internal monologue and half confessional, “Mull It Over” sees Evann McIntosh sing clearly on the track about the issues we can face while torturing ourselves over situations that could have gone differently, if only we’d taken a different approach.
The repeated refrain of “over and over again” is very effective in Evann’s lovely, clear voice, and really sends the feeling of getting caught up in the repetition of your own feelings – something which even at the tender age of 21, Evann McIntosh unfortunately knows very well. This is shown again in the lyric “you’re still lurking in that lonely corner of my mind”, or as they try to comfort themself with the words “I’m much better off/keeping it the way we had left it”.
In their own words, Evann said: “Mull It Over is about doom spiraling, spending too much time trying to right past wrongs instead of moving forward, and how addictive that cycle can be.”
