K-pop girl group Billlie have established their global dominance throughout 2025 topping off hit music with collaborative projects, international appearances and much more.
Most recently, the septet performed at the international music showcase event, Korea Spotlight 2025 – organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) – in Barcelona, Spain, showcasing their powerhouse blend of soaring music and polished performance. From participating in KPOPPED and taking their learnings forward to making their presence known both domestically and internationally, Billlie's expressive artistry establishes them as an act with plenty of allure.
Speaking to Earmilk, the band dive into their Korea Spotlight 2025 appearance, collaborating with ARrC, experimenting with new genres and more.
1.What was it like appearing at KOCCA MUSIC’s Spotlight event in Spain. Any standout moments?
MOON SUA : More than anything, I was truly grateful for the local audience who sent us passionate responses to our performances. Seeing them sing our songs loudly from start to finish made my heart feel full. In that moment, I was reminded once again of how powerful K-pop can be, and it made me want to repay their support with better performances and music.
HARUNA : One of the most memorable moments for me was when we performed our Spanish cover song, "Ojos Tristes," together as a group. Preparing a song in a new language was fun, and it was also exciting to imagine how people would react to Billlie singing it. When we finally performed it on stage, the response was even more enthusiastic than we expected, which made that moment incredibly special. I think it’ll remain a cherished memory for us for a long time.
2.Take me through your learnings and takeaways from your participation in KPOPPED?
TSUKI : Since I was young, I’ve danced to Patti LaBelle’s music, so this stage itself felt like a tremendous honor. Throughout the preparation process, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Hearing her voice up close was especially powerful, as it went beyond technical perfection and carried pure sincerity and storytelling. When she sings, even a single line has the strength to command the entire space. More than anything, this experience made me hope that one day I can grow into an artist who inspires younger generations. It was a truly valuable time, allowing me to learn firsthand how to deliver a consistent, timeless performance over the years and how to genuinely connect with global audiences on a deeper level.
SUHYEON : We were able to realize so much through completing a performance side by side with a legendary artist. Simply being in the same space was a huge learning experience. The level of detail, interpretation, and the way emotions are conveyed on stage by artists who have been loved through music for so long taught us a lot. We also learned how important it is not to simply ‘sing’ a song, but to bring its story to life in your own way. The professionalism we encountered during the collaboration and the sincere attitude toward the stage will definitely become an important standard for us as Billlie when we create new music in the future. It was a performance that once again made us hope to grow into a team that can share good music with listeners for a long time moving forward.
3.How would you say your artistry has evolved over time and where would you see it going over time?
HARAM : I believe that Billlie’s music has continued to evolve and grow alongside us since our debut. In the beginning, we focused on how to express Billlie’s unique storytelling and identity through music. Now, within that foundation, we’re exploring a wider range of sounds and emotions, while trying to express the stories we want to tell more deeply and delicately. As we have more releases and promotions, we can also feel our direction as a team becoming clearer and more solid.
SHEON : We’re constantly shaping what it means to be unique as Billlie. We focus on reflecting the tones and emotions that each member can immerse themselves in most naturally, and we think deeply about how to interpret the mood of each song in a way that feels true to Billlie. That’s why, regardless of genre, maintaining an identity where people can say, “This has a Billlie feel to it,” is the most important thing for us. Going forward, we also want to challenge ourselves with bolder, newer sounds and structures. We hope to share more music rooted in the members’ own experiences and emotions, and to become a team that isn’t afraid to try new things based on the stories and colors we possess.
4. MOON SUA and SIYOON were part of ARrC’s latest music. In terms lyricism and music making in general for Billlie where do you each personally draw your inspiration?
SIYOON : When I’m working, I usually draw inspiration directly from the music itself. As I listen to the track, I think of images, moods, and emotional flows naturally, and the lyrics tend to take shape that way. Also, each of us imagines completely different scenes even when listening to the same track, and I think those differences add layers of color and depth to our song.
MOON SUA : When I first receive a song to work on, I try to understand the story and overall mood it carries. I usually set the tone by listening to other songs with a similar vibe. If I feel creatively stuck, I look for inspiration in books or movies, focusing on specific emotions or scenes. Repeating this process helps everything naturally connect into lyrics.
5. Speaking of collaboration, who would you say are your dream artists to someday work with?
HARAM : I’ve always been a huge fan of Jorja Smith, so if I ever get the chance, I would really love to work with her. I’m always impressed by the way she expresses deep, rich emotions through a modern sound. If we were to collaborate, I wouldn’t want it to be just about layering voices, but I’d hope our musical worlds could naturally blend and create a new texture together. Because our sensibilities and emotional tones would be different, I think that contrast could lead to a very special kind of synergy. It would make me really happy to be able to share a new musical experience like that with fans.
SHEON : I hope I can collaborate with Daniel Caesar someday because his music always inspires me. His melodies are incredibly emotive, but more than anything, his lyrics touch the heart in such a simple, quiet way that they stay with you long after listening. I often find myself imagining what his music might sound like if it were reinterpreted through Billlie’s colors. If a collaboration were to happen, I think it would become a truly meaningful experience that I’d remember for a long time.
6. What’s one genre, concept or theme you’d love to experiment with in the future?
HARUNA : I would like to try a powerful concept that really highlights our performance, something where the team’s energy and charm come through naturally, while also allowing me to clearly show my own color. Every time we prepare a new sound or mood, I feel myself growing, but that feeling is especially evident when we work on intense, high-impact performances. I want to surprise fans and make them think, “HARUNA can do this too,” while giving them something genuinely enjoyable. I hope to create stages where we can tell various stories through our expressions.
HARAM : I also really want to try a strong, intense concept. We’ve always done our best with what we’ve shown so far, but I feel a strong desire to take it another step and create a stage that’s even more charismatic and powerful. We’re confident in our performances, so it would be great to maximize our strengths and create a stage that instantly makes people think, “Wow, this is Billlie’s stage,” and truly represents who we are as a team.
7. What’s been the most memorable moment of your musical journey so far? What’s on your bucket list?
SUHYEON : The most memorable moment for me is, without a doubt, debuting as Billlie. Achieving our dream together and meeting Belllie’ve, who love and support us, is something I’m truly proud of. Among those memories, our first fan concert stands out as especially unforgettable, and it was the most nerve-wracking yet happiest moment. Looking ahead, my goal is to collaborate with a wide range of global artists and further expand Billlie’s musical colors and stories on a broader scale.
SIYOON : The moment I’ll never forget is when we earned our first music show win for Belllie’ve. I felt incredibly proud that we could repay even a small sense of gratitude to fans who believed in and supported Billlie so wholeheartedly. To create more moments like that together, we want to continue repaying that support with great music and stages. As always, our goal is to keep proving that we’re a group that delivers sincere emotions and meaningful stories to the public. Since our fans give us so much strength, we’ll do our very best to give that back through even bigger stages and better music.
8. Finally, if you had to describe Billlie and its sound in 3 words what would they be and why?
TSUKI : I’d choose the following words: ‘Energy,’ ‘Story,’ and ‘GOAT.’ They represent the unique energy and storytelling you can only feel through Billlie’s music, and ‘GOAT,’ or Greatest of All Time, reflects our belief in expressing those elements in the best possible way.
SIYOON : My three words are ‘Overwhelming,’ ‘Empathy,’ and ‘Heart.’ Billlie’s music naturally brings out overwhelming emotions when you listen to it, and because our songs are very story-driven, the lyrics are easy to relate to. From the very first line, our music would hit your heart so strongly it almost hurts in a good way, so I chose the word ‘Heart.’
